From land to sea.

An opportunity to reduce transport emissions by at least 20 percent.

Through the new ferry route between Nynäshamn and Rostock, Rederi AB Gotland and Hansa Destinations are enabling the transition of freight transport by the sea instead of by land, creating a more environmentally friendly option. The new route will have the capacity to transition over 75,000 trucks annually from land traffic to the sea, which will help reduce transport emissions. The freight shipping sea route between Rostock and Nynäshamn can reduce emissions by 20 percent or more, depending on the occupancy rate.

The route has received government support (eco bonus) in the start-up phase to help reduce Sweden’s greenhouse gas emissions. Hansa Destinations is the largest project to receive the eco bonus support, with the aim to help achieve Sweden’s climate goals.
