Within walking distance of the harbor is the picturesque medieval town of Visby. There you can wander around discovering the city's history, churches, ruins and botanical gardens. There are restaurants around the city where you can enjoy good food and drinks. The Hanseatic town of Visby is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Scandinavia and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1995.
In the port area, outside the terminal, is a place for taxis. Nearby, it is also possible to rent a car or bicycle. There is also a bus stop close by that takes travelers into the city. From there, buses, that can take you around the island, will depart. Tickets can be purchased in the bus but also at the bus station or online on the phone.
Travelers who come to Visby by vehicle can easily find their way to the island's road network.
